About Us

The Buffalo Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) was founded in 1921, and through the years it has played an important role in the engineering community.  We are located in Zone 1 of the geographic subdivision of ASCE, representing a membership of over 500 civil engineers and engineering students in and around the Western New York area, including the counties of Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany in New York State.  The Buffalo Section is a member of the ASCE New York State Council and Technical Societies Council of the Niagara Frontier (TSC).

The Buffalo Section offers continuous support of the local engineering community.  We strive for the advancement of the science and profession of civil engineering through education.

Meetings

The Buffalo Section holds monthly meetings, except in July and August, for its members and guests.  Some of the meetings are held jointly with other technical societies.  The meetings generally feature a speaker giving a talk on a relevant engineering topic.  The December meeting topic is usually social in nature and the June meeting is the annual field trip.  In addition, the Buffalo Section technical committees hold meetings to conduct business and present technical information.
