ASCE Centennial Celebration – ASCE’s Future World Vision

Thursday, November 12, 2020 - 05:30 PM

The ASCE Cincinnati Section will conclude its Centennial Celebration with a meeting on Thursday, November 12, 2020.  The meeting will include dinner and a presentation about ASCE’s Future World Vision - Infrastructure Reimagined.   ASCE’s Future World Vision is a bold, comprehensive project to anticipate, reimagine, and prepare for the future.  The presentation will be by Gerald E. “Jerry” Buckwalter ASCE National Chief Operating and Strategy Officer.   The location and details of the meeting are TBD.

The presentation will look at the exciting future of civil engineering and the built environment.  From autonomous vehicles to the most cutting-edge green technologies, the built environment is being reshaped before our eyes. Exciting as it is, these changes breed challenges. The future will require a new way of doing things - a new approach and a new vision.  ASCE’s Future World Vision will help ensure that the decisions we make as civil engineers, in building high-tech, resilient, and sustainable communities of the future, optimize desirable outcomes while avoiding undesirable and unintended consequences. Civil engineers, in reimagining the world, must adapt how we design, build, operate, and maintain our infrastructure systems.  Using data-driven, in-depth, scenario-planning analysis, Future World Vision puts civil engineers in position to lead not just today but five decades into the future.  It will be a wide ranging and exciting presentation about civil engineering and the future.  More information about the Future World Vision can be found at:  https://www.futureworldvision.org/
