On May 25th I passed the gavel to Matt Benovic at ASCE Cleveland's Annual Dinner at Nuevo on North Coast Harbor. Matt is joined by Ryan Butler, Vice President; Ryan O'Hearn, Secretary and Kyle Nelson, Treasurer. I also had the privilege of presenting the Outstanding Civil Engineer of Year Award to Gina Beim and the President's Commendation to Eva Vargas. Please congratulate both on their well deserved recognition. For those unable to attend the annual meeting, our guest speaker was Richard Y. Pace, President of Cumberland Real Estate Development. Mr. Pace provided a passionate overview of the $700 million Cleveland Lakefront Development Project that will include a school, a boutique hotel, restaurants, office space and apartments.
2016-2017 was an exciting year for ASCE Cleveland, with premier of Dream Big, the inaugural Civil Engineering Club at Orchard STEM School, the release of the America's Infrastructure Report Card and the launch of the development of the Northeast Ohio Infrastructure Report Card. Thank you to all that contributed to the success of these and the many other events and activities throughout the year. Thank you for the opportunity to have served the Cleveland Section during this past four years. In addition to staying on as a member of the Board of Director of the Cleveland Section, I will also be representing the Ohio Sections on the Region 3 Board of Governors and in that capacity I would like to invite you to attend the ASCE Region 3 Assembly on August 4th & 5th, in Detroit, Michigan.
Craig K. Hebebrand, P.E., ASCE Cleveland Section Past President
