April 2018 Meeting-The Great Miami Wetland Mitigation Bank - If You Build It, They Will Come

Thursday, April 19, 2018 - 12:00 PM

In 2008 the Five Rivers MetroParks rescued 364 acres of beautiful land near the southeastern end of Sycamore State Park in Trotwood from becoming a land fill.  MetroParks was interested in the land because it had all the elements to restore a large wetland ecosystem.  Over the past ten years a portion of the land has been transformed into a living system supporting numerous plants and wildlife.  The statement "if you build it they will come" could not be more true, in our case "they" refers to rare plants, birds, frogs, salamanders and other wildlife.  Come join us to learn more about this wetland mitigation bank as well as the rare species that call it home.
