Indiana Section Mourns Ward Martin

Ward W. Martin, P.E., 76 of Mishawaka IN, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 after an 18 month battle with cancer.

Ward attended the University of Omaha and serving in the US Air Force as a Cartographic Specialist. He received his BS in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in Dec 1954. He served as a field and sales engineer within the concrete and concrete products industry until his retirement in 1995 from Calumet Flexicore in Hammond, IN.

An active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) since his college days, Ward served as president of the Indiana Section from 1981-82, was named Indiana ASCE Engineer of the Year in 2005 and received the ASCE Newsletter/Webmaster of the year award in 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy, two sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Center for Hospice (111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, Indiana 46637).
