Beginning…March 1st – “March Madness”
GO “fill in the college of your choice here”!!!! The excitement of the tournament is building…be a part of NCAA fun when the tourney begins on March 20th: donate $5 and fill out the bracket. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners but everyone who participates will be a winner! Why? All of the money donated will go to funding ASCE educational outreach and because you’ve been so generous, the ASCE YMG will host a party for the NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME with FREE munchies. April – “Spring into Green Design”
Green design? LEED certified? What does that mean? Well, just like the good CE’s we are, we looked it up: “The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.” Still puzzled? Are you curious to learn more? Join the ASCE MD YM group to learn what LEED certification is, how you can get LEED certified, and how LEED is changing the face of civil engineering today. The technical presentation will be held at the Engineering Society of Baltimore in Mt. Vernon. The date of the presentation will be announced in the near future, stay tuned!! May – “Yo, CE’s, Let’s Kick IT!!”
Several civil engineering students in our area have challenged the YMs to…you guessed it…a kickball game! Let’s show those students who rules the playground with an iron slide scale!!! Game time and place will soon be determined but sign up quick, we must show strength in numbers! Friday, June 13th – “How ‘bout dem O’s hon?!?”
ASCE MD YMs want to take its members out to the ball game on FRIDAY, JUNE 13th at 7:05 to watch the Orioles take on the Pirates (argh!) for member appreciation night at Camden Yards for good old fashioned baseball fun! All are welcome so gather the hubby/wifey, your best CE friend, the kiddos, mom, dad , heck, even your goldfish and come watch the O’s!! Tickets are discounted for ASCE members ($8/member) as well as for non-members ($10/non-member). Munchies (provided by ASCE YM) and fun (provided by all who attend) will take place before the game at Warf Rat Pub on Pratt Street.
