The Meeting was called to order by President Don
Mercer at 5:15 p.m.

correspondence.

by the Board.

Chizek thanked Mercer for
producing the last set of minutes

minutes as presented.

Treasurers Report
In Qadeer delivered the
treasurer’s report
Chizek moved to accept the
treasurers report.

Old Business
Top Ten Projects Plaques
The Board viewed the poster boards for the top ten
projects of the 20th Century.
Bronze plaques were ordered 2 weeks ago. They are due in 6-8 weeks (June 15 +/-)
Presentation at Big Mac will be Thursday August 3, 2000.
Hegarty presented some
information on investigation of a new project:
sale of architectural drawings of the big bridge for the
benefit of ASCE scholarship
funds.
Opportunity Grants
Hegarty presented the response from National. We get no money.
Public Affairs Grant 1999
No Report
Annual Meeting
Speaker for the Banquet will
be Delon Hampton
Speaker for Friday Lunch will be Architect Dan Halon
The golf outing will be at the Links of Taylor
Web Page
Chizek will have something on line within 6 weeks
Chizek will have a good product on line by September
The Board had a vote of confidence in favor of Chizek and
authorized him to hire and
fire Web Page committee members at his discretion.

Deadline is May 15
Meyers pleaded for articles
Section President’s
Attendance at the Annual National ASCE Meeting
Section used to pay the air fare of the President to
attend this meeting. The policy was canceled during hard financial times.
Chizek moved to reinstate
the Section’s policy of reimbursing the air-fare necessary for the Section
President to Attend the Annual meeting.

New Business
Membership
The Board generally decided that all life members should
continue to receive mail until
it is proven that they have died or they request the mail stopped.
Younger Members Conference
in Detroit
The Younger members committee responsible for organizing
the event thanked the Section
Board for its assistance and delivered a report. The conference was an outstanding
success.
Building Big
The Board viewed a teaser for this program which will air
in the fall (October 2000)
Local schools should be made aware
Student Chapters
The Board will see a proposal from the Council of Student
Chapters responsible for the
Concrete Canoe Competition and Steel Bridge Competition. They will s eek
financial assistance for specific items they feel they need. Chizek will be the conduit for this information.
Next Meeting Date
The date of the next meeting was set for May 25, 2000
