Order
The Meeting was called to order by President James Hegarty
at 7:45 a.m.
In attendance; Jim Hegarty, President

Agenda
Hegarty proposed revisions to the agenda including:
Add under immediately after Agenda the following item:
1.5 Officer Appointments
Chizek moved to adopt the agenda
as amended.
Mercer seconded.
Motion Passed
Officer Appointments
Chizek moved to appoint Jim
Grant as Treasurer of the Michigan Section of the American Society of Civil
Engineers.
Mercer seconded.
Motion Passed
Meeting Minutes

Chizek moved to accept the
minutes as amended.

Correspondence
Hegarty produced some
correspondence.
Correspondence was reviewed
by the Board.
Treasurers Report
Treasurer’s Report was
postponed until the end of the meeting time permitting.
Old Business
Mackinaw Scholarship
Hegarty and Kendall are
leading and excited.
Orchard, Hiltz and
McCliment, Inc. has offered to lend its marketing department to assist in the
production of a promotional package.
Chizek moved to increase the
“seed money” budget for the Mackinaw Scholarship from $1000 to $4500 (Account
#66).
Skalski Seconded.

MCE Discussion
No Report
Hegarty indicated that no
action will take place until a plan exists.
Top Ten Projects
4 of the top ten projects remain
to have follow up, they are:
Filtration Plant contact
will be by Hagarty
Ambassador Bridge contact

Ford Plant contact will be
by Chizek
Waste Water Treatment
contact will be by Chizek
Annual meeting
Mercer moved that Ann Arbor
Branch will handle the 2001 annual meeting.
Kendall seconded.

Web Page
Chizek presented a report
and answered questions for the Board.
Hegarty stated that Chizek
had met the challenge of an adequate web page by September 2000 without the
assistance of a web design consultant.
Public Affairs Grant 1999
No Report.
MDOT Membership
Mercer presented a report.
Hegarty commended Don Mercer
and Michael Close for their efforts.
Qadeer will write a letter
to ASCE national recognizing Mercer and Close’s efforts in recruiting MDOT
employees into ASCE.
District 7 Meeting
No Report.
150th Committee
150th items were
discussed by the Board including the “Building Big” series on PBS stations and
the “West Point Bridge competition.”
Next Meeting Date
The date of the next meeting was set for November 2, 2000
at 5:00 p.m.
Adjournment
Chizek moved, in the interest
of time and Board members’ attendance at the annual meeting, to postpone the
remaining agenda items until the next meeting of the Board and adjourn the
meeting.
