Annual Civil Engineering Awards


 

 

The New Jersey Section takes great pleasure in announcing the Annual Civil Engineering Awards. These awards are to recognize local members for their contributions to the Civil Engineering field. If you wish to nominate someone, please read the rules and criteria and then complete a nomination form available from the Awards Chairman (see below), or in a recent copy of the Section newsletter.

The New Jersey Section will accept nominations for the following six award categories. Any nominations should be submitted to the President of the Section no later than February 1 of each calendar year of the award. These awards are to recognize local ASCE members and non-members for their contributions to the civil engineering profession. 1. New Jersey Civil Engineer of the Year, 2. New Jersey Young Engineer of the Year, 3. New Jersey Section Government Engineer of the Year, 4. Educator of the Year, 5. New Jersey Service to the People, 6. New Jersey Section Excellence in Management Award.

NEW JERSEY CIVIL ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

The Section's highest award is presented to an individual who is judged to have contributed substantially to the civil engineering profession.CRITERIA

1) ASCE Membership grade must be either Member, Fellow, Honorary or Life;
2) Member in good standing with the New Jersey Section

 

NEW JERSEY YOUNG CIVIL ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

This award is presented to a young civil engineer who is judged to have contributed to the civil profession. CRITERIA

1) ASCE Membership grade must be Member or Associate;
2) Member in good standing with the New Jersey Section;
3) Must be 35 years of age or younger on February 1 of the year of award.

NEW JERSEY SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE

Presented to an elected or appointed government official who has contributed substantially to the statues of the civil engineering professional by their public service.CRITERIA

1) Holds office in a jurisdiction which represents a geographical area including an area which corresponds to the boundaries of the NJ Section.

EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

This award is presented to an outstanding educator who has contributed substantially to the field of civil engineering. CRITERIA

1) Must be affiliated with an educational institution located in the State of New Jersey.

 

 

NEW JERSEY SECTION EXCELLENCE IN MANAGEMENT

Presented to honor a business leader in the civil engineering field.CRITERIA

1) Must be affiliated with a New Jersey corporation that designs, manages, or constructs civil engineering projects.


RULES

1. Nominations must be received prior to 3 p.m., February 1 of the award year.

2. Individuals may be nominated for awards by a member in any grade of membership.

3. Individuals may be nominated for more than one award.

4. Award recipients must be approved by the Board of Directors.

5. The Selection Committee will be required to nominate an alternate for Board consideration for each award.

6. Each Selection committee will also recommend to the Board of directors whether the recipient should be nominated for applicable national or regional awards by the Section.

7. Recipient must agree to accept award in person.(Awards Dinner held typically on a Friday evening in April)
