The COPRI Seattle Chapter is pleased to welcome Dan Alire with KPFF Consulting Engineers as the speaker for our first meeting this fall. Dan will be discussing the Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal Project.

We will be meeting at our usual spot on the 10th floor of Mirabella Seattle overlooking South Lake Union, with bar service and a dinner buffet prepared by Mirabella's chef -- a reminder that there is ample street parking north of the building.

Online registration closes Tuesday night before the event -- please contact us after that time to get on the list.

We are always looking for topics/speakers you would like to see at our upcoming events, please feel free to let the organizing committee know about your suggestions.

Topic:
Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal Project (Mukilteo, WA)

Washington State Ferries (WSF) is relocating the existing Mukilteo Ferry Terminal approximately one half mile east of its current location.  The project will improve ferry operations, improve pedestrian and vehicle safety, provide multimodal connectivity, and allow WSF to accommodate a significant increase in future travel demands.

Along with relocating the terminal, the footprint of the new terminal will expand from less than 2 acres to approximately 10 acres, requiring significant roadway components, three building structures, and overwater/in-water marine structures, all built upon an abandoned US Navy fuel tank farm facility site.

This presentation will provide a project overview and describe key design elements.  It will also include a discussion of Concrete Filled Steel Tubes (CFST) with fixed pile heads, which were used to minimize the lateral spreading induced displacements on the marine structures.
