Antony Wood, Chief Executive Offi cer of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), knows a thing or two about urban growth. His professional career started in architecture, where he designed projects all over southeast Asia, and after joining CTBUH in 2006, he lectured at universities around the world. At the helm of CTBUH, he decreed the Burj Khalifa the “Tallest Building in the World” and has personally visited metropolitan cities in more than 80 countries. He has seen building development in every corner of the globe. So the question that begs to be asked is: How does Washington compare?

In the context of global development and urbanization, Washington cities like Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane have strengths, challenges, innovations, and opportunities. What are they? Join us for the 2019 Fall Forum, where Antony will share lessons learned from his international study while commenting on local tall building projects and urban interventions that define the region’s pace and progress for the future. He will also address trends, drivers, and challenges of global tall building and urban development, discussing sustainability, resilience, and potential evolutions of the “vertical city.”
