HELD JANUARY 10, 2009 The 5th Idaho
Regional competition was held at Boise State University on January 10, 2009. There
were 19 teams from 15 schools. First place was awarded to the Idaho Distance Education
Academy (Eagle ID) for their Future City, New Valley Egypt. They won awards
for Best Sim City Design, Best Model and Best Creative Transportation Design
to Reduce Emissions. ASCE would like to thank
all members and non-members who continue to work to make this program a
success. If you are interested in helping next
year, please contact
Erika Stoddard (Erika.Stoddard@itd.idaho.gov).
She will get all of the contact
information to you to start working with the students and teacher. Additional information on Idaho's
Future City Competition as well as the National level of competition can be
found at Future City Idaho Regional
Web Site (www.futurecityidaho.org)
or www.futurecity.org. ASCE – SIS looking
to start meetings in Eastern Idaho The Southern Idaho
Section includes our members in Eastern Idaho, but an active meeting group
has not been established. At a time when our national economy is struggling,
networking among our members is more critical now than ever. If you are a member in
eastern Idaho, and interested in meeting once a month, please email Marti.miller@hdrinc.com. We will
establish a contact list and work to get something established in your area. Although the Boise
chapter meets at lunch on the fourth Thursday of the month, it may be more
convenient for the Eastern Idaho group to meet at a different time. This will
be established after we have determined level of interest, and location of
interest. Stay tuned! ASCE Looking for
Speakers If you have a topic that you would like to share
with ASCE members, please contact Marti Miller, ASCE President, about
speaking at an upcoming meeting. Last update: 01/29/2009 |
