RHI Magnesita is a global supplier of refractories for the steel, cement, and glass industries. The York Plant produces magnesium-based refractories from dolomite mined on site.
The tour will consist of seeing the raw materials side of the refractory production plant. Our first stop will be an overview of the quarry, where we will talk about mining methods, mine development, quality control, environmental compliance, among other topics. Stop 2 will be at the rotary kilns, where the stone is sintered to produce the refractory. Stop 3 will be at the brick plant, where bricks are pressed and fired in the tunnel kilns.
