Construction Webinars - Pipe Training Series 4
This is a multi-part, multi-day training opportunity.
The American Concrete Pipe Association is offering a pipe training series for PennDOT personnel, contractors, and consultants. Each session will include 90 minutes of instruction, followed by a quick test and live discussion. Morning and afternoon sessions will be independent/unique topics, although participants are strongly recommended to attend both morning and afternoon session each day. Participation in the test/discussion will be required for continuing education credits.

Quality: Thursday Jan 21, 2021
Jan 21, 2021 Session 4 – Rex Busa, Pennsylvania Concrete Pipe Association
Quality: Quality Control and Quality Assurance are both necessary pieces to the puzzle of how to provide consistent quality products for state jobs. The course will cover the requirements and expectations of the Industry’s QCast program, and the PennDOT Quality Assurance requirements.
Installation Best Practices: Thursdays, Feb 11 and Feb 18, 2021
Feb 11, 2021 Session 5 – Trygve Hoff, American Concrete Pipe Association
Fundamentals: This course will cover the fundamentals necessary to achieve a proper installation. From the basics of stormwater drainage pipe, to soils and backfill, each section will provide the building blocks needed for a proper soil-pipe system. Topics from the training include common terminology, characteristics of the different pipe types, compaction effort, consolidation over time, deflection lag, and the why behind groundwater control.
Feb 18, 2021 Session 6 - Trygve Hoff, American Concrete Pipe Association
Installation: The best practices for pipe and culvert installation. These best practices include some new and some tried and true techniques from manufacturers, contractors, and designers. The installation process is arguably the most critical aspect of the pipe’s service life, because no matter how well it was designed, how well it was produced, how much QA or QC it received, the value of the final product is contingent on proper
installation.
Post Installation Inspection: Thursdays, Mar 4 and Mar 11, 2021
Mar 4, 2021 Session 7 – John Fleckenstein, Pipeline & Drainage Consultants
PII: A leader in the inspection industry, Pipeline and Drainage Consultants, will provide an overview of the history, technology, and practical experience in the pipeline inspection industry.
Mar 11, 2021 Session 8 – John Susong, Rinker Materials
PII: The afternoon session will cover Post Installation Inspection best practices and evaluation criteria from a national and state perspective. This session will also include a closeout of the week’s training with a review of the key points, and a discussion on the objectives learned.
