Transportation Planning Specialist

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is a premiere transportation organization whose mission is to responsibly operate and manage a safe, reliable and efficient toll road system, serve as a transportation services leader and foster innovation to better serve our customers.  Opened since October 1, 1940, the PTC operates a 552-mile system used by 194 million vehicles a year. 

The PTC is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a “Transportation Planning Specialist” position within its Design Engineering Department. This position is responsible for a variety of duties including participating in the coordination, development and monitoring of the PTC’s strategic plan, long range plan, department business plans and capital programs.  This position is located at the PTC’s Central Office in Middletown, PA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gathers, organizes and analyzes data to assist in the final preparation and periodic reviews of all programs within the PTC Ten-Year Capital Plan and the Independently Funded Program to include project scope, budget and schedules.Assists in the coordination of information for the application and administration of federal, state and other special funding requests for projects.

  • Coordinates, presents and assists in identifying the financial needs and activities of the engineering planning unit to include automated systems data entry requirements, reporting, capital planning needs and funding requests between various internal departments.

  • Provides periodic reports and analysis of actual spending levels versus planning levels for all capital plan projects to ensure guidelines are followed and proper capital fund allocations are distributed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in engineering, planning, information technology or accounting*

  • Four years of experience in engineering, planning, information technology or accounting*

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

    * Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training will be considered

The annual salary range for this position is $53,832-$80,748.
