Bus Rapid Transit/Roadway Engineer

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and self-motivated Roadway/Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in the Akron, Ohio office to work on Bus Rapid Transit projects across the country. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil/Transportation Engineering specific to roadway and urban design, drainage design, grading design, traffic control design, and the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications and construction estimates.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Urban Corridor Improvement Plans
Site Grading Plans
Arterial Reconstruction Plans
Traffic Signal Improvement Plans
Maintenance of Traffic Plans
Drainage and Erosion Control Plans
Responsible for following AASHTO, NACTO, APTA, State DOT, and/or City standards and performing engineering calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer. The candidate will also have the flexibility to aid other roadway/highway design staff throughout Ohio on ODOT and OTIC projects, if needed.
B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
2+ years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as roadway design, site design, utility design, stormwater and multimodal transportation projects.
Ability to coordinate among multiple disciplines including architecture, landscape architecture, ITS, Communication, Electrical, and Structural
Ability to recognize discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work.
Valid driver's license required.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/Geopak/Inroads and experience with MS Office
Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
