ASCE Delegation Meeting on 9 Dec 2004 ASCE President, Bill Henry and some ASCE directors visited Shenzhen in Dec 04 and had short stay in Hong Kong from 9 to 12 Dec. The Board have had a dinner with Bill Henry and his delegation on 9 Dec. Some issues have been raised for the attention of the Headquarters. Bill Henry and his delegation met the HKUST International Student Group on 11 Dec. Bill Henry was impressed by the presentation of the Student Group. |

Technical Visit to Castle Peak Road Improvement between organized by American Society of Civil Engineers - Hong Kong Section
Date of Site Visit: Saturday, 8 th May 2004 Program Highlight: The Project involves the widening and re-alignment of over 8 km of Castle Peak Road between Hoi On Road and Ka Loon Tsuen, Tsuen Wan. The scope of works includes viaducts, reinforced earth walls, extensive slope works, retaining structures, footbridges, seawalls and noise mitigation structures, as well as associated road reconstruction works. |

Geotechnical Division Annual Seminar
Date:14 May 2004 (Friday) Programme Highlights The seminar aims to provide practitioners, researchers and professionals in related fields an opportunity to share their expertise, experience and knowledge that led to a cost effective design, or constituted an innovative design, procedure or construction method. The Keynote Lecture will be delivered by Prof F Tatsuoka, Vice President ( Asia ) of ISSMGE. Papers for the seminar will cover a wide range of topics including slope stability, ground improvement, tunnelling, foundation and deep excavation, etc. The event is supported by the newly formed Hong Kong Geotechnical Society (HKGES). |
