PennDOT Central Office - Civil Engineer Manager (Hydraulics)

 

The Bureau of Project Delivery is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer Manager specializing in hydraulics to make a big splash!

Description of Work:

As a Civil Engineer Manager (Hydraulics), you would manage advanced engineering professionals in the field of hydrology and hydraulics to adhere to the statewide policy, quality assurance and support.  This would include working with other agencies within the commonwealth, managing consultant staff assisting with technical duties, and reviewing and consulting on permitting issues related to bridge projects.

This position also provides detailed analysis and quality assurance reviews of hydrology and hydraulics of water obstructions and encroachments such as bridges, culverts, stream relocations, and other similar structures, erosion and sediment (E&S) control plans and post construction stormwater management plans.  These reviews require general to complex engineering expertise in the hydraulic design of structures, erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater management plans to assure the adequacy of the structure and conformance with the Department's policies and procedures.

PennDOT Central Office - Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulics)

 

The Bureau of Project Delivery is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer specializing in hydraulics to make a big splash!

Description of Work:

As a Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulics), you would assist in the management of a quality assurance and guidance program.  This would include working with other agencies within the commonwealth to coordinate approvals and obtain permits, reviewing submissions across the state to maintain compliance with the department, commonwealth, and federal criteria, and providing field reviews to resolve any issues or recommend any corrective actions.

During flooding events and potential flooding events within the state, this position monitors observed and predicted precipitation amounts, stream gages, and flood warnings and advisories to determine which bridges and approach roadways are or may be impacted by flooding.  Also this position participates in, and assists with leading as needed, taskforces, committees, and meetings in areas beneficial to the Department.

Geotechnical Engineer

Susquehanna Civil is seeking a self-motivated Engineer to join our growing Geotechnical Team.  The candidate will focus primarily on transportation-related geotechnical design projects.  Responsibilities will include design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations for transportation related structures, preparing laboratory testing programs, and assisting in planning and overseeing field explorations.  Minor field work may be necessary including, but not limited to: subsurface investigation (soil and rock identification), test pit logging, infiltration testing, DCP testing, site reconnaissance, and sub-contractor supervision.  Candidates should have strong organizational, communication, and people skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.  Being detail oriented and having an emphasis on quality of work are a must.  Eligible candidates should possess a B.S. in civil engineering or related field and have 5+ years’ experience in geotechnical design on PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects.  P.E. registration in PA (or the ability to achieve registration), PennDOT Drilling Inspector certification, and experience with current geotechnical analysis software is a plus.

 

Geotechnical Technician

Susquehanna Civil is seeking a Technician to join our growing Geotechnical Team.  The candidate will focus primarily on field work including, but not limited to: subsurface investigation (soil and rock identification), test pit logging, infiltration testing, DCP testing, site reconnaissance, and sub-contractor supervision.  Other responsibilities will include assisting with geotechnical reports, which may include data entry, basic CADD work, and minor design work.  Candidate must be willing to be cross-trained in multiple engineering disciplines.  Candidates should have strong organizational, communication, and people skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.  Being detail oriented and having an emphasis on quality of work are a must.  Eligible candidates should possess a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field OR have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in geotechnical design on PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects.  The candidate should be a PennDOT Certified Drilling Inspector or have the ability to become certified within 6 months of hire.
