Survey Crew Chief (Harrisburg, PA)

An experienced Party Chief to perform a variety of tasks associated with land surveying, civil, and transportation engineering in our Harrisburg, PA office. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Applicant must be able to work in a team environment as a lead member of a survey crew performing boundary, ALTA, topographic, right-of way, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology. Responsibilities:

  • Perform land survey aspects of civil and transportation engineering projects.
  • Perform Construction Stakeout.
  • Field work associated with land surveying.
  • Perform Boundary Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, PennDOT right-of-way surveys.
  • Assisting with survey computations and data collection.
  • Perform Computer-aided drafting and design.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Surveying is preferred.
  • Able to operate Conventional Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, GPS, static, RTK, RTN.
  • Familiarity with Trimble and/or Leica Robotics, Carlson Data Collectors.
  • Ability to perform detailed data collection for Topographic surveys sufficient for engineering design.
  • Ability to work remotely under rigorous conditions for long term assignments is required.
  • PennDOT right-of-way, construction staking and as-built survey experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Carlson Survey Controller, Trimble Access, Leica LGO, Carlson SurvCE software a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be reliable.
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions.
  • Have the ability to work out of town, flexible with work area.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in order to operate company vehicle.

 

Project Geotechnical Engineer (Harrisburg, PA)

Candidate must possess professional engineering registration with a minimum of five years experience in geotechnical design. Study and analyze surficial and subsurface soil and rock materials to determine characteristics for construction, development, and land planning. Develop subsurface exploration programs, laboratory testing plans, and QA/QC for test results. Prepare slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, pile lateral capacity, and overturning computations for various types of structures, including retaining walls, bridges, culverts, noise barriers, and buildings. Familiar with computations involving both shallow, spread footing type foundations, as well as deep pile and/or drilled shaft type foundations. Prepare various types of Geotechnical Engineering reports, including Structure Foundation Geotechnical Engineering Reports, Roadway Geotechnical Engineering Reports, Reconnaissance Soils and Geological Engineering Reports, and Problem Statement Draft Exploration Plan reports. PennDOT Certified Drill Inspector preferred and able to pass 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training. Requires a BS or higher degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Strong project management and good oral and written communication skills required.  DOT experience is preferred.

Mange project schedules and budgets, and effectively communicate both internally and externally with private and public-sector clients

We are looking for a skilled Stormwater Engineer to join our family of employees as a part of the Transportation group. The Stormwater Engineer will work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting in order to provide improvements to PennDOT roadway drainage systems.  

Responsibilities

  • Design and provide improvements to PennDOT roadway drainage systems. 
  • Conduct field studies on PennDOT stormwater facilities; including identifying, recommending, and testing strategies to resolve areas of concern.

We are looking for a skilled Right-of-Way Designer to join our family of employees as a part of the Right-of-Way and Utility group. The Right-of-Way Designer will work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting in order to prepare right-of-way plans for complex PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare right-of-way plans for complex PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects.
  • Conduct process monitoring and reviews with key right-of-way features, such as controlled access, shifted centerlines, railroads, relocated highways, etc.
  • Design right-of-way easements and project specifics through the use of MicroStation and InRoads and OpenRoads software. 
  • Assist with full-cycle utility coordination efforts. 
  • Leverage PennDOT DM3 Chapter 3 for plan preparations and internal SCI operational protocol to ensure compliance and quality solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates in Drafting and Design; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience preferred with PennDOT and PA Turnpike highway and bridge designs.
  • Proficiency with Bentley software including MicroStation, InRoads and OpenRoads software.
  • Strong problem-solving and abstract reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the flexibility to work in as a team or independently.
