ASCE May 2019 Site Tour and Meeting – FC Cincinnati Stadium
The ASCE Cincinnati Section held the final meeting of the 2018-2019 Program year on Thursday, May 16, 2019. The meeting included a site tour, dinner, and presentation on new FC Cincinnati Stadium. The site tour was at the new FC Cincinnati Stadium site that was under construction. The dinner and presentation were in adjacent the Taft High School Cafetorium.
The ASCE National President, Robin Kemper, PE attend the meeting and gave a short presentation.
This soccer-specific stadium will be the home FC Cincinnati; one of the newest members in the Major League Soccer (MLS). The stadium is in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, at the former site of Stargel Stadium on Central Parkway at Wade Street. The stadium is being designed by Populous, a Kansas City-based company responsible for several MLS venues. Turner Construction is the general contractor; they are being supported by Jostin Construction. Kleingers a local engineering company is supporting the project.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 18, 2018, it is expected to officially open in March 2021. The stadium is expected to cost approximately $212 million and will hold approximately 26,000 occupants.
