Ron Ebelhar, PE

You will recognize this year’s award recipient because he regularly attends our Cincinnati Section and Geotechnical Group meetings, and has been a presenter at our meetings. He has been an ASCE member for nearly 40 years and is an ASCE Fellow. ASCE Fellows have made celebrated contributions to our profession --there are fewer than 3.5% ASCE members nationally that hold this prestigious honor.

Lifetime achievement award winners are typically generous with their time volunteering outside the office.  This year’s candidate is no exception.  He has been a dedicated volunteer for ASTM for many years and has served multiple terms as a committee chair.  He recently served as the 2015 ASTM International Chairman of the Board.

Ron has managed hundreds of projects, including multiple marquee projects with budgets between a quarter and a million dollars and one 12 million dollar project for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

A few quick facts about Ron:

  • He is a Senior Consultant/Senior Principal with Terracon Consultants, Inc.,
  • He is registered in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, West Virginia, Utah, Pennsylvania, and Illinois
  • He has provided excellent civil and geotechnical engineering services in our community, nationally and internationally
  • He has worked on projects with just about everyone in our office,
  • He is recognized has having mentored numerous engineers.

If you ever get a chance to talk to him, ask him about the early cowboy years working offshore... and only challenge him to a ping-pong match if you are highly skilled and would like a challenging opponent.
