President - Prabesh Bhandari, Ph.D., P.E.
Prabesh is an Engineer with Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. He graduated with his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering in 2014 from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and with his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering in 2021 from the University of Texas at Arlington. He was elected as the Vice-President of the GI-GSO (Geo-Institute - Geotechnical Student Organization) at UT Arlington during his graduate studies. Prabesh has been with Geosyntec from August 2021 and is excited to engage with his professional peers in the Cincinnati section.
Vice President - Rebecca Scherzinger, P.E.
Rebecca earned her BS from the University of Cincinnati (2015) and MS at Virginia Tech (2017). She is the outgoing chair of the ASCE Cincinnati Section – Geotechnical Group and part of the 2024 ORVSS Planning Committee. She is also involved with Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) and the Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) committee. As a student at UC, she was involved with the UC ASCE student chapter and served various officer positions and she is looking forward to the opportunity to engage with our local students and young professionals. She earned her PE license at the end of 2020 and she is licensed in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
Treasurer - Nirajan Khanal
Nirajan is a Senior Staff Engineer with Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. He received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Nirajan was elected as the Treasurer of Geo-Institute SIUE at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville during his graduate studies. He joined Geosyntec in September 2022, and has been actively involved in projects with multidisciplinary teams for Geo-hazards, Geo-environmental, and Geo-structural group.
Secretary - Robert (Rob) Moyer, IV, P.E.
Rob Moyer has been a hydraulic engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers for 22 years and has been guiding reservoir releases from the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kentucky Dam along the Tennessee River and Nashville District’s Barkley Dam along the Cumberland River for the past 19 years. Rob has worked to significantly reduce flooding for 7 of the 12 largest events at the Ohio/Mississippi river junction over the past century as well as the improvement of navigation and hydropower activities in high and low flow regimes. Rob has been a member of ASCE for the past 23 years and has a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University. Rob is also a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland.
Past President - Munal Pandey, P.E.
Munal is a Senior Staff Engineer with Terracon. He graduated with his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 2017 from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and with his Master’s in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management in 2021 from the University of Cincinnati. Soon after graduation, Munal joined the Terracon office in Louisville, and worked for a year before returning to the Cincinnati office. He currently has 3 years of experience working in the geotechnical industry in the greater Cincinnati area.
First Past President - Taylor Taluskie, P.E.
Taylor is a Project Engineer with Terracon. He received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in Civil Engineering. He started with Terracon in Cincinnati more than12 years ago in January 2012. In 2018 he moved to the Terracon Chattanooga office to become the Geotechnical Department Manager. He recently returned to the Cincinnati office and is looking forwards to serving the professional community in the greater Cincinnati area and re-engage after being away for 3 years.
Second Past President – Bryan Hafertepe
Bryan Hafertepe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. During his co-ops at University of Cincinnati, he was part of the Jacobs Engineering Group structural design team for a confidential massive manufacturing plant project. Bryan also was part of the Al Neyer design-build team that built a large mixed-use development called U-Square, which is located at the Loop near the University of Cincinnati campus. Since graduation, Bryan has worked at Connico Incorporated. His projects range from providing estimates for waste water treatment facilities and airport taxiways to construction management on several airport runway projects. Bryan's passion is working on large projects in their planning and early design phases. He believes that incorporating engineering, planning, and constructability perspectives on a project from its inception can improve the overall outcome of the project and aide in identifying potential issues early in the design process.
A native Cincinnatian, Bryan is a passionate supporter of FC Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Reds. He also sits of the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Boychoir and currently sings in the Cincinnati Young Professional Choral Collective.
Third Past President – Brad Barber, P.E.
Brad Barber, P.E. is a Water Resources Engineer in Wade Trim’s Cincinnati office. His work experience is broad and includes the design and operation of wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, pump stations, treatment facilities, and CSO/SSO remediation. He is involved in all project stages including alternative analysis, project design, specification writing, cost estimating, permitting, bidding, and construction inspection. Brad earned his BSCE from Ohio Northern University in 2009, and worked for Jacobs Engineering Group through 2016.
Brad's ASCE involvement dates back to 2005 as an active member of the ASCE student chapter and two-time captain of ONU's National-qualifying concrete canoe teams. For the past two years, Brad has volunteered to judge ASCE's Ohio Valley regional concrete canoe competition.
Fourth Past President – Kayleigh Hammond, P.E.
Kayleigh is a civil engineer at The Kleingers Group working in the SportWorks department designing sport fields and facilities. Her work experience includes designing tracks, tennis courts, baseball & softball fields as well synthetic turf fields for parks, K-12 schools, higher education and professional teams. Kayleigh is a 2017 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and served as President of the ASCE University of Cincinnati Student Chapter. Kayleigh is also an active member of the American Sports Builder Association (ASBA) and the Synthetic Turf Council.
