Engineers invites applications for
the Howard Preston Scholarship Award. The purpose of the scholarship is to
promote excellence and professionalism in the field of Civil Engineering.
The scholarship will provide financial support for the student’s

Science Fair-2013 Every year in March, the MCSF brings together hundreds of students from Eastern Washington and surrounding areas who get a chance to show off their scientific prowess for fun and prizes. This year's fair will be held on Thursday, March 7th, 2013 and the awards ceremony will be on Saturday, March 9th. All of the exhibits will be displayed at the Columbia Center mall in Kennewick. The awards ceremony will be at Chief Joseph Middle School in Richland. The fair is open to any student, grades 6 through 12, in the Eastern Washington region. Volunteers and judges are needed, please

West Point Bridge Design Contest (for US
Students Age 13 - Grade 12) ....The West Point Bridge Design
Contest is a nationwide Internet-based competition intended to promote
math, science, and technology education in U. S. middle schools and high
schools. The contest provides students with a realistic introduction to
engineering through an engaging, hands-on design experience. Participation
is free. All U. S.
students age 13 through grade 12 are eligible. Contestants may compete

New ASCE Life Members 2013 Class
Congratulations to new ASCE Life Members this year. Advancement to Life Membership in teh American Society of Civil Engineers is an honor and unique accomplishment reserved for individuals who have made a long time contribution and committment to the Society and the profession. Furthermore, these members have reached the age of 65 years and have paid dues in any membership grade for a number of years such that when added to their age, the sum equals or exceeds 95. From now on, the dues are waived with the exception of the life member service fee to cover mailing of publications.
The Columbia Section of ASCE thanks you for your contrbutions to civil engineering. May each of us aspire to reach your level of success and accomplishment as we continue to serve the Society in the years ahead.
