Become part of the infrastructure solution!

Locally, San Diego facilities scored poorly in the 2005 ASCE Report Card, with storm water facilities getting a C-, and local streets a D+.  If the Report Card were updated now, these grades would be worse because of the lack of funding.  Public agencies need more voices advocating for repairs, replacement, and effective funding policies to improve our infrastructure.

The ASCE San Diego Section is forming the Friends of Infrastructure, a network of professionals with a simple mission: To serve as advocates and technical advisors for the advancement of public works projects and policies.

Members of the Friends of Infrastructure network can help improve our local infrastructure in many ways.  For example, we can:

-Provide advice as an objective third party
-Speak at a public meeting
-Answer questions from the media
-Participate in a briefing
-Request support from a decision-maker
-Sponsor a site tour
-Explain technical information for the public

There are no dues or fees. The membership database will be maintained by ASCE San Diego Section.

When requested by a public agency, the Friends of Infrastructure leadership will poll the members to determine who can provide the assistance needed, and facilitate the contact.  Willing members will take it from there.  Join the Friends of Infrastructure! Be recognized as part of the solution!

Provide your contact information and area of expertise for the database and/or ask questions by contacting Katherine Hon with Hon Consulting, Inc. at 619-294-8990 or e-mail us by clicking "Committee Chairperson" below.
