ASCE Seattle 2020-2021 Officers Election!
 
The 2020 Election of the ASCE Seattle Section Board of Directors is taking place between today and May 29, 2020. Online ballots are available at the link below. If you are a section member and are not able to access the link, please contact Mari Otto at [email protected].
 
The following nominees are put forth by the Nominating Committee for the Seattle Section Board positions starting in October 2020:
  • Don Nguyen, President-Elect
  • Katie Sultani-Wright, Treasurer
  • Tony Nguyen, Director of Branches

Nominee Bios:

 
 
Don Nguyen for President-Elect
Don Nguyen, PE, is a bridge engineer at HDR. He is the deputy project manager for the Marion Street Pedestrian Bridge replacement in downtown Seattle. Don is very active with ASCE and has held many roles in the past 7 years, including Section House & Hospitality Chair, YMF President, and Sustainability Committee Vice-Chair. He has also developed the mentorship program for the Seattle Section.
 
As Section President-Elect, he hopes to develop more programs that will engage Section, YMF, and student members in order to provide more member value. Being a member of ASCE has had major, positive impacts on his career and life, and he hopes to provide similar opportunities for others.
 
Katie Sultani-Wright for Treasurer
Katie Sultani-Wright is Practice Coordinator at Aspect Consulting.  Two months ago, after a 16-year career as a consulting engineer, she made the leap to business operations.  Her consulting experience is in ocean engineering and naval architecture. Her areas of specialization include mooring analysis, marine climatology, and statistical analysis. Katie is an effective and accomplished project manager, with responsibility for significant design and analysis projects involving numerous stakeholders. 
 
Katie is the current ASCE Treasurer.  She enjoys being an active part of the engineering community at large. Building and maintaining a community of peers is an important part of her life. Katie will continue to bring her enthusiasm for project management, a good business sense, and technical skills to the Treasurer role. She is proud to be a part of ASCE Seattle Section leadership and hopes to continue to serve as Treasurer.
 
Katie earned her BSE and MSE in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. She is a registered professional engineer in Washington and Alaska.
 
Tony Nguyen for Director of Branches
Tony is the current Seattle Section Director of Branches. Under his leadership, he has championed the education of our members about the Branches, provided vital communication linkage between the Branch leadership teams and the Section Board, and strategized recruitment of Branch leadership team members.
 
His past ASCE leadership roles include: Section Secretary, Sustainability Committee Communications Chair, YMF Seattle Programming Chair, Western Region Younger Member Council Conference Planning Committee, National Student Steel Bridge Competition Fundraising Committee Chair, UW Chapter Co-Secretary, and UW Chapter Outreach Chair. 
 
He is a Bridge Engineer with experiences ranging from local agency to national level projects. His career highlight includes being the Deputy Area Manager for the PennDOT Rapid Bridge Replacement Program (full design and replacement of 558 bridges across the state in 3 years) assisting in national oversight of 5+ multi-discipline bridge design teams (35+engineers). Tony earned his BSCE and MSCE from the University of Washington.
