Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievements
This special dinner program will feature Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (LOCEA) presentations and awards, and celebrate ASCE Life Members. Register Here.
The annual LOCEA awards recognize outstanding projects in the categories of Geotechnical, Structural, Ports and Waterways, Water Resources, Transportation and Development, and Small Project and Non-Construction Studies. Eligible projects are those that: have been accomplished by a civil engineer who is a member of the Seattle Section; is located within the Seattle Section (includes the counties of King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, Island, Clallam, and Jefferson); was substantially completed in the calendar year 2018; and is predominantly civil engineering-related work.
- The 2019 Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Project in the Water Resources Category is the Smith Island Estuary Restoration Project which was undergone by Snohomish County Public Works in collaboration with City of Everett and Puget Sound Energy. The project was designed by Otak and Shannon and Wilson.
- The 2019 Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Project in the Ports and Waterways Category is the Waypoint Park and Central Avenue Pier in the City of Bellingham. The design team led by KPFF Consulting Engineers also included Walker Macy, Coastal Geologic Services, Aspect Consulting, and GeoEngineers.
- The 2019 Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Project in Small Projects Category is the Rhododendron Park Waterfront and Open Space Access project in City of Kenmore. The project team led by Osborn Consulting also included Aspect Consulting, Axis Survey and Mapping, CivilTech Engineering, KBA Construction Management, Northwest Environmental Consulting, Sitts and Hill Engineers and Ohno Construction.
- The 2019 Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Project in the Geotechnical Category is the SR 520 West Approach Bridge – North designed by Shannon and Wilson. The project team also included HDR, SCSolutions and Parametrix.
