Historic King Mill Renovation and Repurposing
Bundle up and wear your hard hats and work boots for a stroll through the Historic King Mill retrofit. Original construction began on the four-story John P. King Cotton Mill in 1882 and it employed approximately 600 people by the turn of the twentieth century. Spartan Mills purchased King Mill in 1968 but closed its doors in 2001. Cape Augusta LLC purchased the site in 2018 to provide residential and retail units next to their adjacent Sibley Mill Office renovation. This is a good time to view the engineering and construction progress as each of the three main buildings are in various stages of retrofit. We will get to see initial demolition and structural stabilization to interior build out, to nearly finished spaces.
