TOPIC: Coatings for Steel and concrete Infrastructure

According to NACE International, the global cost of corrosion is estimated to be $2.5 trillion, which is equivalent to 3.4% of the global GDP (2013).  Using the appropriate coating on steel and concrete infrastructure can protect against corrosion if designed and constructed appropriately.  Have you wondered why coatings are not meeting your expectations – perhaps you own or designed a water or wastewater structure or a bridge and the coating is not performing well?  This presentation will provide:

  • information about coatings and liners and describe how to assess the substrate and make proper coating selection,
  • helpful information for understanding how to select a coating to expand the life cycle of the steel or concrete structure,
  • the process and procedures for coating selection and proper application, and
  • simple failure analysis for when coatings are not meeting expectations.
