Jose Hernandez with Pryo Structural will present on the deceptively complex question that he was asked countless times in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene: is the structure safe? Drawing from selected case studies among more than 80 requests for assistance, the presentation examines how structural engineering judgement was used to assess damage, identify immediate hazards, distinguish storm-related damage from pre-existing conditions, and develop recommendations regarding occupancy, stabilization, repair, or replacement
