This presentation will review the concept of general ethics and how engineering ethics specifically affects daily practice and our duty to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. We will also review elements of South Carolina's Laws and Regulations, and ASCE's and NSPE's Fundamental Canons. Topics include responsibility, accountability, standard practices of engineering, and the standard of reasonable care.
Jeff Mulliken has over 30 years of leadership experience in the planning, design, and construction of largescale transportation projects throughout the southeast. Jeff received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina and is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and other states. He was selected as ASCE's South Carolina Engineer of the Year in 2012 and ACEC-SC honored him the Service to the Profession Award that same year. Jeff currently serves as the President of the ACEC-SC Board of Directors and is a former member of the SC Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
