3-D Laser Printing and Cutting
Thursday, November 12, 2020 - 07:00 PM
Grace Amundsen Barnkow will cover what these technologies are, what possibilities these technologies currently offer our profession, how to use them, some nonconventional applications, and future projections for applications at scale.
Image the changes in construction and how this could speed and enhance projects or even create a new hobby for you.
Grace Amundsen Barnkow, she/her. earned a BS in Civil Engineering and Business attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Kingston University London, graduating in 2014. She currently work as a Civil Engineer 2 for Public Works in the City of SeaTac, Washington and is pursuing an MPA from the University of Colorado Denver.
She first got involved in the maker movement when she co-founded the Juneau Makerspace while living in Alaska. In that role, she rebuilt a Chinese K40 laser, built a small CNC mill, and put together a kit 3D printer, then learned to use all of it from YouTube videos well enough to teach others. When she moved down to Washington from Alaska, she acquired her own 3D printer, and joined two local makerspace collectives to access professional quality laser cutters and other CNC equipment. Please join us on November 12, 2020 at 7PM to hear from Grace about this fascinating technology.
