One of the Champlain Towers in Surfside Florida, a 12-story136 unit condo, suddenly collapsed on June 24, 2021 killing 98 people. Fred Nelson, our previous ASCE governor, spent several weeks investigating the cause of the failure. We had hoped to make this a hybrid meeting, but the recent surge in COVID-19 causes made us re-think this option. So the meeting will by only offered as virtual.
