
2026 Utah Section Awards
Nominations are now OPEN for 2026 ASCE Utah Awards! Each year, ASCE Utah searches for the best and brightest engineers and innovate projects within the state. If you believe you, your colleagues, or your firm's projects deserve recognition, we want to hear from YOU!
Nominations are due by March 8th @ 11:59 pm MST. All nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee with selection by March 31st and recognition at the Annual Meeting in June 2026.
The Utah Section Awards are:
- Engineer of the Year: recognizes outstanding engineers that have achieved significant accomplishments in the Society and the civil engineering community.
- Fresh Face of Engineering: recognizes the accomplishments of young engineers (35 yo or below) by highlighting their engineering accomplishments and their contributions to our communities.
- Engineering Educator of the Year: recognizes outstanding engineering educators that promote and inspire engineering students to strive for excellence in the Utah universities accredited professional engineering programs.
- CIVIL Award: Council of Individuals Valiantly Improving Life, recognizes individuals who have given service beyond what is normally expected.
- Landmark Engineer: recognizes a lifetime achievement of service to the Society and profound impact in civil engineering. Landmark Engineers are honored with a highlight in the History and Heritage Jubilee book in addition to acknowledgement at the Annual Meeting.
- Project of the Year Under $10 Million: recognizes innovation in design and/or management in small projects that have reached substantial completion by the end of 2025.
- Project of the Year Over $10 Million: recognizes innovation in design and/or management in large projects that have reached substantial completion by the end of 2025.

Educator of the Year - Dr. Korin Holden - Salt Lake Community College
"Korin is the Salt Lake Community College ASCE Faculty Advisor. She has motivated the students into participating in ASCE competitions that allows them to explore civil engineering as they compete as a team and to follow their passion."
Engineer of the Year - Jared Scarbrough
"Jared is recognized for his lasting impact on civil engineering through nearly two decades of leadership, technical excellence, and innovation. Jared is advancing Utah’s transportation infrastructure and shaping industry standards in rail, transit, and public mobility solutions."
Fresh Face of the Year - Easton Hopkins
"Easton is a ceaseless force of growth and progress. He has managed to tackle grad school, innovative projects, and support of his peers all at once as a young professional. His charisma makes him the center of higher standards, and his ambition is significant evidence of his talent and methodical awareness."

C.I.V.I.L AWARDS
The ASCE Utah Section Council of Individuals Valiantly Improving Life (C.I.V.I.L.) Award recognizes individuals who have given service beyond what is normally expected. This award is a state designation highlighting exceptional volunteer efforts. The C.I.V.I.L. Award is not an annual selection - it is a rare honor of appreciation granted only when extraordinary efforts merit designation.

Landmark Engineer Awards
The ASCE Utah Section Landmark Engineer Award is organized by the ASCE Utah History and Heritage Committee, and recognizes a lifetime achievement in civil engineering. This designation may be an antemortem or posthumous honor. Award winners must display a profound impact on state history in the field of engineering.
