The Columbia Section of the American Society of Civil
Engineers invites applications for
the Howard Preston Scholarship Award. The purpose of the scholarship is to
promote excellence and professionalism in the field of Civil Engineering.
The scholarship will provide financial support for the student’s

the process used to assure quality in education and training. In the U.S.,
accreditation of civil engineering programs is a voluntary process conducted by the ABET, Inc.
(the Accreditation Board for Engineering and
Technology). The work of ABET is accomplished by voluntary Program

Students Age 13 - Grade 12) ....The West Point Bridge Design
Contest is a nationwide Internet-based competition intended to promote
math, science, and technology education in U. S. middle schools and high
schools. The contest provides students with a realistic introduction to
engineering through an engaging, hands-on design experience. Participation
is free. All U. S.

ASCE Columbia Section Seeking Officer and Director Nominations
Walla Walla & Pendleton/La Grande Area Director Positions are open for election this year. Voting will take place in June and nominations will be taken by email and at the next Joint Section Meeting.
