Reviews and evaluates Permit to Install applications, detail plans for all types of solid and infectious waste facilities and provides preliminary action to the District Manager, and/or Materials and Waste Management supervisor prior to recommendation for approval or denial. Reviews and evaluates solid and infectious waste facility compliance with approved plans, and makes recommendations to the District Manager, and/or Materials and Waste Management supervisor if further action is required. Assists the district solid waste inspectors in conducting the solid and infectious waste compliance monitoring program.  Provides technical assistance to boards of health, municipal officials, county commissioners, township trustees, engineers, and others regarding solid and infectious waste management.  Attends public meetings and hearings, and gives speeches as required. Investigates complaints of illegal solid and infectious waste disposal and handling procedures.  Performs other duties as required.

Bridge Engineer 2
Salary Range:​($29.75 to $34.00/hourly)

The Montgomery County Engineer's Office (MCEO) located in Dayton, Ohio is responsible for building, maintaining, and operating 541 bridges and 315 miles of county roads. MCEO is seeking a Bridge Engineer 2 to focus on the design and development of in-house bridge projects. Opportunities to assist with project management and further develop bridge replacement/rehabilitation and maintenance programs are available. Position requirements include:
• Provide technical expertise for bridge design projects and maintenance activities
• Design and develop plans, specifications, and estimates for in-house bridge projects
• Perform quality control for consultant structural work products
• Assist with the project management of assigned bridge projects, including consultant, utility, public agency, and stakeholder coordination
• Assist other staff with the development of bridge replacement, rehabilitation, and maintenance programs
• Provide office support during construction
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree preferred
• Ohio PE or the ability to obtain within one year desired
• 3 or more years of bridge experience, with demonstrated ability to design and prepare structural plans and specifications. Experience should include design of precast culverts and single and multi-span bridges (concrete box, I-beams and steel beams). Broad design experience with abutments, piers, foundations, and associated roadway components preferred.
• Basic bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis experience desired
• Understanding of bridge maintenance activities (inspection, load rating, in-house repairs)
• Desire to coach and develop junior and non-structural staff
• Strong communication skills and experience relating to peers, consultants, contractors and the public
• Self-motivated individual who seeks and accepts responsibility
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation required
• Valid State of Ohio Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months
