Dear David,

ASCE Rochester and Monroe Professional Engineers Society is pleased to bring another exciting event to you.

Speaker:
Frank Sciremammano, Ph.D., P.E.
Principal, F-E-S Associates, and Member of the International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board

The Spring of 2017 brought unprecedented precipitation and subsequent record flooding to many parts of the Great Lakes system, including Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. This coincided with recent changes in the way that water levels are managed, through a newly-enacted regulation document, Plan 2014.  Naturally, questions have been raised about the effect of the plan, for which the summary report is subtitled "Protecting against extreme water levels, restoring wetlands, and preparing for climate change." Dr. Sciremammano, formerly Professor of Mechanical Engineering at RIT, is an expert on marine and environmental engineering, and was first appointed to the International St. Lawrence River Board of Control in 1995. Dr. Sciremammano will present on the background to managing water levels in Lake Ontario and his experience in the development of Plan 2014.
