Civil Project Manager

BWE is seeking a Civil Project Manager to join our team. Qualified candidates will hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering and a California Professional Engineer license with a minimum of eight years of progressive professional experience, including a minimum of two years managing other team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing grading, drainage, utility, and public improvement plans. The Civil Project Manager is expected to develop and maintain client relationships as the primary point of contact for BWE. He/She must possess a thorough understanding of the permitting requirements and processes of local municipalities & school districts and DSA. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must (Microstation experience a plus).

Experience in the following areas will be given favorable consideration:

  • Proposal writing

  • Construction administration

  • QA/QC

  • Consultant coordination

  • Training for other department members

  • Management of department resources

  • Hydrology Studies

  • LEED calculations

  • Storm water management reports, including SWPPP preparation

  • Writing/editing Specifications

  • San Diego Unified School District, DSA, OSHPD, and/or military experience

  • Design-Build delivery

Civil Designer (Drafter)

BWE is seeking a Civil Designer (Drafter) to join our team. Qualified candidates will possess an FE/EIT certificate with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Candidates will have a minimum of three years of progressive professional experience. He/She will possess strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills for the preparation of grading and improvement plans for educational facilities, military facilities, and urban infill projects. Microstation experience is a plus. Experience with earthwork calculations and construction cost estimates is required. Knowledge of local Cities' and County design requirements and processing procedures are required and DSA, OSHPD, & military experience are a plus. Traffic control and erosion control plan preparation experience is a plus.

The Civil Designer will report to a Project Manager and work with Project Engineers. Excellent communication skills and customer service are essential.

BWE's Civil Engineering department is looking to add an experienced and motivated Director of Civil Engineering to our core management team. The right candidate is ready to take the next step in their career and put their mark on our civil engineering department by building a culture of teamwork and design excellence. He or she should be a hands-on leader, willing to mentor and empower project managers, project engineers and designers to creatively develop solutions for our clients and their projects. The Director of Civil Engineering will work closely with clients and the design team to coordinate the completion of the design while ensuring quality standards, maintaining project schedules and staying within project budgets. He or she will develop and maintain a pipeline of diverse projects in various market sectors including commercial, residential, military, higher education, k-12 education, healthcare, civic and biotech. Experience with DSA, OSHPD, and design-build delivery are preferred. Excellent communication skills and organization are required. Having a passion for design and engineering will be vital in order stay current with industry advancements and regulatory changes.

Education, Experience, Qualifications: 

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering and management experience
  • Experienced in preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates and providing engineering support services during construction

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems

  • Land development project experience
  • California Professional Engineering (PE) license required

Engineering-Construction Manager

The Unified Port of San Diego is currently seeking a Engineering-Construction Manager who will be a Division Manager primarily responsible for the successful delivery of all District projects in the construction phase. This division includes Construction Managers, Construction Inspectors, a Surveying Team and Interns.

This class is responsible for planning, assigning, monitoring, coordinating and managing the work of professional and technical staff in the Engineering – Construction Department. Supervision of functions and staff is exercised either directly or through subordinate supervisors. Assignments are typically received in the form of general instructions and objectives from the Chief Engineer/Director, Engineering-Construction, and work is reviewed through conferences, report analysis and program results.

Engineering Assistant

The Santa Fe Irrigation District is currently seeking a technically qualified and self-motivated individual to serve as an Engineering Assistant in the District’s Engineering Department. The Engineering Assistant will provide support in a wide range of Department activities for approximately ten (10) months from initial appointment date. One of the first activities will involve the use of the District’s Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Therefore, knowledge and the ability to utilize GIS software is highly desirable. The capability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is also desirable. The ideal candidate has or is currently pursuing, an engineering degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.

The Engineering Department is responsible for water supply and infrastructure replacement planning, management of the design and implementation of Capital Improvement Projects, management and support of development activities, and provision of utility mark-out services in order to protect existing District Assets. The Engineering Assistant position will be a helpful part of the Engineering Team.

Assistant Survey Analyst

Nasland Engineering has an opening for an Assistant Survey Analyst in our office in Kearny Mesa, San Diego. The candidate must possess a minimum of five years experience in current AutoCAD mapping techniques with an emphasis on boundary mapping, topographic survey data reduction, ALTA preparation and construction staking calculations including research at public and private agencies. Candidate may also be required to perform field duties as a member of a field survey crew, requiring numerous hours of standing, walking, lifting and bending, sometimes strenuous and in extreme weather conditions.

  • California LSIT is preferred and a valid California Driving License is mandatory.
