Re-construction of Aiken’s Historic Inclined Plane and Engine House

The presenter will speak about the latest information on the Inclined Plane which was part of the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Co. (SCC&RR) railroad line from Charleston to Hamburg, SC built in the 1830’s [an ASCE Historic History and Heritage landmark] and specifically about what we know about the Engine House and the stationary steam engines it housed. His talk will feature original illustrations and animations resulting from many years of research into this topic.

This new Engine House was built in the park on top of the water vault system that the Brand toured last year.
