The Engineering and Public Works Roadshow is traveling to Charleston, SC to spotlight the Low Battery Reconstruction Project.

The Low Battery Reconstruction Project is an award-winning example of what is possible when government and industry work together to restore and protect one of America’s most historic urban coastlines.

The original Low Battery was completed over 100 years ago as part of a large land reclamation project. Decades of natural erosion and exposure to storms have taken their toll on the seawall. This, combined with shifting weather patterns required the City of Charleston to rehabilitate the seawall to protect the residences and businesses along the shore of the Ashley River.
