September Section Meeting - Joint with SEAW
This month's meeting is our annual joint meeting with the Structural Engineers Association of Washington. We'll be talking about the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) being constructed on I-5. Chuck Meade and Michael Rosa from WSDOT will be our guest speakers.
Chuck Meade, P.E. (bio)
Has been working in Olympic Region for the past year and a half as the Lacey Project Engineer with my main focus on delivering construction contracts, most notably the JBLM Berkley and Thorne lane interchange modifications and the I-5/SR510 Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project.
Michael Rosa P.E., S.E. (bio)
Has been with WSDOT for 19 years and spent the last 13 years in the Bridge and Structures Office as a Bridge Engineer, currently serving as the Bridge Projects Unit Manager.
Their presentation will be discuss the selection of the DDI configuration, the benefits to the community, construction challenges, and the budget and timeline for completion. Several structural challenges with widening the bridge while keeping traffic moving will also be a key focus of the discussion.
