The National ASCE organization was founded in 1852, represents approximately 130,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America’s oldest national engineering society. ASCE’s mission is to provide essential value to our members, their careers, our partners and the public by developing leadership, advancing technology, advocating lifelong learning, and promoting the profession.
The ASCE Cincinnati Section currently has approximately 650 members and serves the Southwestern Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and Northern Kentucky civil engineering community. The Section is in Region 3 of the National society’s geographic regions.
The Cincinnati Section was founded in 1920 and will celebrate its 100-Year Anniversary in 2020. The Section will commemorate and celebrate the anniversary with some special events and activities. Click here for a Summary of 100 Year Annivesary Summary
Section Officers and Leadership
The ASCE Cincinnati Section is led by a Board of Officers that consist of the following elected positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and two most recent Past Presidents. In addition, there are appointed leaders for the following committees: Educational Outreach, and Younger Member Group. The Educational Outreach Committee works with local schools to introduce today’s youth to the world of engineering; and the Younger Member Group organizes and sponsors events and activities for younger members of ASCE. In addition, other committees are established to address specific functions including the 100-Year Anniversary Committee.
Student Chapters & Subsidiary Organizations
The ASCE Cincinnati Section also includes two Student Chapters - the University of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati State Technical & Community College. In addition, the ASCE Cincinnati Section also has a specialized Geotechnical Group, which is a subsidiary organization of the Section.
