CME/TDI Franklin Square Station Rehabilitation
Franklin Square Station in Center City is part of the PATCO system connecting Philadelphia and southern New Jersey. The station opened when the original Bridge Line started service in 1936 and closed in the early 1950's. It was rehabilitated and opened as part of the local Bicentennial celebration in 1976 but closed again in 1979 given low ridership. With activity in the vicinity of the station increasing, it was decided to fully overhaul the station, including provision of ADA accessibility, to make it available for service once again. Construction of the $30 million effort was started in early 2022 and is slated to be completed early in 2025 for reopening to riders.
