SEI Webinar - Testing, Monitoring, and Non-Destructive Evaluation - BDI's Support of Evaluating Multiple VDOT Structures
In this presentation, three case studies will be reviewed in which advanced technological applications were used to aid a state department of transportation in their evaluation of critical infrastructure assets. The case studies include a buried culvert with fill heights in excess of three hundred feet, a cable stayed bridge, and a post-tensioned structure with a history of PT system performance issues. In each of these cases, a rigorous and unique application of technology was devised to provide the owner with actionable information. The background, overview of deployed technologies, and current status of each of the three case studies will be reviewed and discussed with the audience. The learning objectives of the presentation include an introduction to the monitoring and non-destructive evaluation techniques employed, an understanding of identifying applications where these technologies may be relevant for other structures, and insight into another State’s adoption and practice of using these technologies.
