This session will provide a historical perspective how transportation agencies, utility companies, and consultants each perceive the utility process; and the effect the needs and requirements of the respective organizations have on the transportation project and utility process. Solutions and Tools to successfully bridge-the-gap will be presented. The presentation will also include a summary of how Drew’s identification of a “missing civil engineering discipline” contributed to the creation of ASCE’s Utility Engineering and Survey Institute (UESI).
