Responsibilities

  • Work within an integrated team of engineers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects in developing engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of public and private infrastructure projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliency
  • Civil and Environmental engineering for ski resort, urban development, renewable energy, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Preparing associated plans and reports and permit applications

Civil Engineering Project Manager

VHB’s South Burlington, VT office, consistently named one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont by Vermont Business Magazine, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our Land Development group. The successful candidate will work with our team of professionals to support all aspects of site/civil engineering for public and private site and infrastructure projects, including grading and drainage design, utility design, and stormwater system design. Projects include urban infill projects, ski resort and recreation projects, residential and commercial projects, and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work within an integrated team of engineers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects to develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a wide range of public and private projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliency
  • Prepare design plans from schematic design through construction documents, prepare permit applications and supporting materials, and write technical report.
  • Assist in the preparation of permitting, design, and construction documents
  • Manage tasks and projects and monitor project financial performance
  • Engage in business development and client relations-building activities
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Supervise, plan and coordinate work activities with the Land Development team

Dam Safety Engineer

Green Mountain Power is seeking a Dam Safety Engineer to lead GMP's Dam Safety Program to ensure our facilities are operated and maintained for GMP field worker safety and public safety while compliant with all local, state, and federal regulatory obligations and requirements.

This position is primarily responsible for the implementation and oversight of all FERC and/or State dam safety and license obligations for GMP's hydro facilities. This can include emergency action assessment, planning, Part 12 coordination, directing and oversight of consultants and engineers, communication with state and federal regulatory agencies, dam safety surveillance and monitoring planning and reporting, as well as hydro dam project safety and public safety-related requirements.

This position will work with the Generation Team with numerous aspects of project operations, planning, training, emergency modifications, excavation investigations, drilling guidelines, drawdowns, dewatering compliance, and other critical energy infrastructure information. You will work under general supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations while also proposing new creative solutions.

This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, incredible communication skills, the ability to work independently and within a team environment, safely, and the ability to meet goals and deadlines. Candidate must be a licensed professional engineer or can obtain licensure within 12 months.
