Frankford Avenue Bridge Tour: Rehabilitation of the Oldest Bridge in the United States

The Frankford Avenue Bridge, built in 1697, is the oldest continuously-used roadway bridge in the United States.  It is a 3-span stone masonry arch bridge over Pennypack Creek in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.The tour will examine and discuss the character defining elements of the structure and sympathetic repair treatments.  Techniques required when working with historic masonry will also be explained.

Hard hat, vest, and boots required. Attendance limited to 25 people on a first come, first served basis.
