013024 CSCE Dinner Meeting at the University of Hartford

Over 100 people joined CSCE at our monthly meeting at the University of Hartford on January 30, 2024. At this meeting, Mark Carlino, P.E., Engineering Administrator in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Kim Lesay, Bureau Chief of Policy and Planning, and Michael Calabrese, P.E., Division Chief of Highway Design in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, of CTDOT gave a presentation on the CTDOT’s Complete Streets Controlling Design Criteria Policy and Engineering Directive. This meeting was co-sponsored by the CT Chapter of the ASCE Transportation & Development Institute and the ASCE Student Chapter at the University of Hartford. Attendees were able to earn 1 NYS PDH at this event.

Mark Carlino, P.E., Engineering Administrator in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, CT DOT

Mr. Carlino, P.E., has worked for 8 years with the DOT and became the Engineering A2ministrator in 2022. Prior to that, he worked as the Director of Public Works for the Town of Manchester, CT, from 2002 to 2016.

Kim Lesay, Bureau Chief of Policy and Planning, CT DOT

From 1995 to 2013, Ms. Lesay worked for the CT DOT as a Supervising Transportation Planner. From 2013 to 2017, she worked for BL Companies and returned to the CT DOT in late 2017. In September 2020, she became the Bureau Chief of Policy and Planning at CT DOT.

Michael Calabrese, P.E., Division Chief of Highway Design in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, CTDOT

Mr. Calabrese, P.E., has worked for CT DOT for 28 years.

From I-91 South: From I-91 South, turn right at end of ramp; from I-91 North, turn left. Travel Route 218 West for 4 miles to junction with Rte. 189. Left onto Rte. 189. Campus is two miles on left.

From I-84 West, Exit 48: Right onto Asylum Ave. Travel 1.5 miles to Scarborough (on right) followed by left onto Rte. 44. Bear right onto Rte. 189. Campus is 1/2-mile on the right.

From I-84 East, Exit 41: Left onto S. Main becoming N. Main to the junction of Rte. 44. Turn right onto rte. 44 to junction with Rte. 189. Sharp left onto Rte. 189. Campus is 1/2-mile on the right.

From I-291, Exit 1: From I-291, turn left. Travel Route 218 West for 4 miles to junction with Rte. 189. Left onto Rte. 189. Campus is two miles on left.

From Farmington Valley: Route 44 East past Bishop's Corner to junction with Rte. 189. Sharp left onto Rte. 189. Campus is 1/2-mile on right - or - Rte. 185 to junction with Rte. 189. Bear right onto Rte. 189. Campus is just ahead on the left.

To park at the University of Hartford, you need to park in an assigned lot and place a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety on your dashboard.
