Please join CSCE at our monthly meeting at the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. This meeting is co-sponsored by CSCE's Younger Members Group and the ASCE Student Chapter at CCSU. At this meeting, Emily Pysh, PMP, at CTDOT, will give a presentation on Storm Ida and Beyond: Resilience at CTDOT. Attendees may earn 1 NYS PDH at this meeting.

At this meeting, impacts and response to past storms will be discussed, along with strategies the CT Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing to manage the impacts of future storms. From overseeing new federal programs from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to analyzing current vulnerabilities, CTDOT is working to create a resilient transportation network that can withstand the impacts of future storms and disruptive events.

Speaker(s)

Emily Pysh, PMP, is the Supervisor of the newly created Sustainability and Resiliency Unit at the CTDOT. She has thirteen years of experience in these topics, from both the public and private sector. Emily received both Master's and Bachelor's Degrees from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP).

From the North, East or West:

1. From the North (Massachusetts) - Take 91 South to 84 West to Exit 39A, to Route 9 South.

2. From the East (Hartford) or the West (Danbury/Waterbury), take I-84 East to Exit 39A to Route 9 South.

Once on Route 9 South, get off at Exit 29 and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Ella T. Grasso Boulevard. At the third traffic light, take a left into the Student Center Parking Lot and feel free to park in the garage in cases of inclement weather.

 From the Southwest or Southeast:

1. From the Southwest (Stamford/New Haven) - Take 95 North to 91 North to Exit 22 North, to Route 9 North.

2. From the Southeast (Groton/New London) Take 95 South to Rte. 9 North.

Once on Route 9 North, take Exit 29 (Route 175). At the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp, go straight and follow Fenn Road to the second traffic light, and take a left turn onto Ella T. Grasso Boulevard. At the fourth traffic light, take a left into the Student Center Parking Lot and feel free to park in the garage in the event of inclement weather. 

Note: Visitors to the CCSU campus are no longer required to obtain temporary parking permits but must park in a “RED” Commuter Student/Visitor parking area.  All of the designated “RED” parking lots and garages can be viewed on the Commuter Student/Visitor Parking Map.  Parking lots and garages designated as “RED” parking areas will be displayed as such on the parking lot/garage signage as well as red flags near the parking entrance.

Reservations received and accepted after midnight on February 8th, may incur a $10 additional fee.
