Please join CSCE and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) CT Chapter for a joint webinar on Reimagining Connecticut’s Bus Stops: A Capital Investment for Better Transit at 12 p.m. Noon EST on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Attendees may earn 1 NYS PDH at this event. On behalf of CSCE, this webinar is sponsored by the CT Chapter of the ASCE Transportation & Development Institute.
Connecticut has launched a first-of-its-kind effort to reimagine the everyday bus stop and transform it into a safer, more accessible, and more welcoming part of the public transportation experience. CTDOT’s Bus Stop Enhancement Program is more than a shelter installation project — it is a statewide approach to improving how riders interact with transit, how communities connect to service, and how infrastructure can support dignity, comfort, and reliability for the people who depend on it every day. This presentation will give transportation professionals a closer look at how the program is being delivered across Connecticut, from selecting locations and coordinating with towns to advancing feasibility, design, installation, and long-term maintenance. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how thoughtful bus stop improvements can strengthen the transit network, improve the rider experience, and support more accessible and connected communities.

Jonas Lucceus is a Transportation Engineer in the Bureau of Public Transportation at the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), where he serves as the project engineer for the Connecticut Bus Stop Enhancement Program (BSEP). He previously worked as a construction materials inspector in the private sector before joining CTDOT’s Division of Traffic Engineering in summer 2019. He collaborates with municipalities, transit agencies, consultants, manufacturers, and construction contractors to deliver bus stop enhancements throughout Connecticut. His responsibilities include developing technical specifications and project scopes, administering contracts, reviewing engineering submittals and construction documents, and coordinating project delivery to support accessible and sustainable transit infrastructure. Jonas holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Central Connecticut State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Kennesaw State University.

Tyler Roth is a Transportation Planner in the Bureau of Public Transportation at the CTDOT. He has worked closely with different transit professionals throughout the state to launch and manage the Bus Stop Enhancement Program (BSEP) and to help modernize data collection, reporting and analytic capabilities through other ongoing projects. He previously worked on contract with the U.S. Census Bureau to help prepare for the 2020 Census before transitioning into urban land use planning with a private consultancy prior to becoming a Transportation Planner at the CTDOT in January of 2020. He has a strong passion for planning, particularly as it relates to sustainable community development. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from Pennsylvania State University.
