Student Scholarship Essays-Due December 1, 2025
The Inland Empire chapter of ASCE is pleased to announce its 2025/2026 scholarship application!
This year’s scholarship essay prompt is:
Reflect on your personal journey toward becoming a civil engineer. Your essay should address at least one of the following: A pivotal moment in your life; A challenge or failure you’ve faced; Your vision for the future of civil engineering.
Essays should be one single page, no smaller than 10-point font, and include the full name, email address, phone number, school, and class status (Senior, Junior, etc.) of the applicant on the document. Essays will be reviewed by the ASCE Technical Education Committee based on creative approach, incorporation of engineering principles, and clarity of expression.
- First place: $1,500
- Runner up: $500
One first place and one runner up scholarship will be selected from the pool of applicants from each school Gonzaga University, University of Idaho, and Washington State University. (up to six scholarships available total)

The Technical Education committee will consider submitted essays in our regular December 2025 meeting. Scholarship recipients will be invited to the annual winter ASCE banquet (January 2026) in Spokane to receive recognition for their award.
